AI Hackathon 2025 to drive ethical AI innovations in Bangladesh

The AI Hackathon 2025 is set to take place in Dhaka, bringing together university students from diverse backgrounds to tackle national challenges in Tech, Environment, Policy, and Health.

The event, organised in association with Keeron and Creative IT, is coordinated by the Institute of AI Impact and Governance and Smartifier Training & Consultation.

Students will use GenAI tools to develop solutions in a multi-phase competition, where teams of three to four members will first submit concept documents before developing functional prototypes. The hackathon is designed for both coders and non-coders, ensuring broad participation. Participants will receive mentorship from industry experts on AI ethics, data governance, and no-code development. Winners will be awarded a 200,000 BDT prize pool, internships, and career opportunities. Ethical AI practices will be a key focus, encouraging teams to integrate fairness and transparency in their projects.

The competition will feature multiple phases, starting with concept submission and culminating in prototype development. The hackathon is structured to allow participation from both technical and non-technical students. Experienced mentors will guide participants through various aspects of AI development, including data governance, ethics, and no-code AI applications. The event aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging students from different academic backgrounds to work together to develop impactful solutions.

Several expert-led sessions will cover key topics related to AI implementation and ethics. Speakers include Arif Nezami from Achievers, who will discuss building AI products with no-code apps, and Tasriqul Islam from the Institute of AI Impact and Governance, who will address AI policy and data governance. Saimum Hossain from Geeky Social will explore how businesses can benefit from custom-GPT solutions. MSI Sakib from Prothom Tech will discuss selecting the right AI tools and crafting effective prompts. Awlad Hussain from the University of Toronto will focus on AI applications in healthcare, while Md Nasim Uddin from Connekt Studio will cover implementation infrastructure modeling using Python, RAG, and vector databases. Sohan Haidear, an AI content creation trainer, will address key ethical issues in AI strategy and implementation.

The AI Hackathon 2025 is supported by a network of partners. Keeron and Creative IT Institute are the primary organizing partners, while The Daily Star serves as the media partner. The Institute for AI Impact and Governance and Smartifier Training & Consultation are coordinating partners. Marketing efforts are led by Geeky Social, while the Academy for Technology and Leadership handles corporate outreach. Technical support is provided by Webbly Consulting Solutions and Bismo Services. Sohan Haidear, head adjudicator of the event, said AI solutions like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Deepseek are powerful tools for solving complex problems, but ethical considerations are often overlooked. He emphasized the importance of responsible AI development and noted that this hackathon aims to address those gaps. Monir Hosen, Founder & CEO of Creative IT Institute, highlighted the event’s role in fostering innovation and collaboration. Tasriqul Islam, another head adjudicator, stressed the importance of developing scalable, ethical AI solutions.
