Four AI tools will support English practice across 17 branches, with an initial rollout from mid-November 2026 ahead of Academic Year 2027.
SINGAPORE, September 17, 2026 – Mavis Tutorial Centre, a tuition centre in Singapore, today announced Mavis PRO Ai, an artificial intelligence learning suite for English that will be available at no additional charge to all Mavis students from Academic Year 2027. The initial rollout begins in mid-November 2026 across its 17 branches. Mavis serves more than 12 000 students a year.
The announcement marks 40 years since Mavis was founded in 1986. The suite extends its classroom teaching with opportunities for students to practise independently, receive feedback and revisit areas they find difficult between lessons.
“After forty years, we are still asking how we can teach better and do more for every child,” said Mr Muzammil Peer, Chief Executive Officer of Mavis Tutorial Centre. “With Mavis PRO Ai, a student can practise an oral response on a Tuesday night and receive feedback that evening. We want to make that support part of the Mavis learning experience, at no additional cost to families.”
Four Tools for English Practice
Mavis PRO Ai brings together four tools designed to support different aspects of English learning.
- Oral AI Companion. Students practise a two-way conversation with an AI examiner, which asks follow-up questions based on their responses and provides an indicative grade and feedback.
- Compo AI Coach. Students upload a composition for an indicative grade and feedback on content, language and structure. Mavis teachers can review and override the AI-generated feedback where needed.
- Listening AI. Students practise listening comprehension through exercises designed around examination formats, helping them become familiar with listening tasks and question types.
- Predictive AI Assessment. Primary students complete quizzes that help identify knowledge gaps and guide revision towards topics requiring more attention.
Together, the tools support practice across the four PSLE English papers, covering writing, language use and comprehension, listening comprehension and oral communication. The oral, composition and listening tools support both primary and secondary students. Predictive Ai Assessment is available for primary students.
Teacher Guidance Remains Central
The suite is designed to complement classroom teaching at the tuition centre. Teachers can use students’ practice responses and feedback to identify areas for further explanation in class. For compositions, they can review the AI’s suggestions and apply their professional judgement. This gives students opportunities to discuss feedback and understand how to improve their work.
“For a child who feels nervous about speaking, having somewhere to practise at their own pace can make a difference,” said Ms Hung Hui Yi, Primary Division Director. “Our aim is to help students build the confidence to express their own ideas. We want them to bring questions back to their teachers and use the feedback to keep improving.”
Preparing for the SEC in 2027
The rollout also comes ahead of the first Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate examinations in 2027, which will replace the GCE O-Level and N-Level examinations. Mavis will draw on its experience in secondary English teaching to support students preparing for the new certificate, with attention to writing, spoken communication and listening skills.
“As students prepare for the SEC, we want them to understand how to improve their work,” said Mr Alex Lim, Secondary Division Director. “Feedback from Compo Ai Coach gives them something specific to question and discuss with their teachers. Those conversations can help students make more thoughtful choices in their writing.”
Further Development
Mavis PRO AI launches with English. A Chinese AI suite is in development, with other subjects planned. Mavis is continuing to invest in teacher training alongside the technology.
