Marking two years since the amalgamation of True and dtac, True Corporation has released its latest sustainability achievements, underscoring how its expanded scale is accelerating progress in ethical AI, digital safety, and climate action. The telecom-tech leader has leveraged its combined strengths to modernise infrastructure, empower communities, and reduce environmental impact across Thailand.
From 2023–2024, True modernised its network at over 13,000 sites, doubling its 5G subscriber base while cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 10%, highlighting how scale can drive innovation and sustainability in tandem.
Ethical AI and Unprecedented Online Safety
Following the 2023 merger, True assumed a leadership role in promoting responsible tech practices. Building on its Ethical AI Charter, True became the first Thai company to adopt the GSMA Responsible AI Maturity Roadmap, developed in collaboration with 19 global telecom firms. The roadmap, focused on fairness, transparency, and privacy, has been publicly shared to foster broader adoption in Thailand.
In 2024, the launch of True CyberSafe marked a transformative milestone for online safety in Thailand. Powered by True’s vast infrastructure, CyberSafe flags over 7 million suspicious links per day, offering automatic protection to more than 50 million users, without the need for registration or app downloads. This makes it Thailand’s largest cybersecurity system to date.
Expanding Digital Inclusion and Innovation
Since the merger, True’s network quality has surged, now reaching 99% 4G coverage and 13.8 million 5G subscribers by Q4 2024. Its network modernisation programme has now reached 77% completion, doubling 5G speeds nationwide.
True has used this digital infrastructure to broaden access and opportunity. In 2024 alone:
- 32 million users accessed True’s online learning platforms.
- 350,000 vulnerable individuals gained digital literacy skills.
- Over 10,000 schools benefited from equal access to digital education resources.
- 5,418 innovators were supported, resulting in 112 patents.
Advancing Environmental Sustainability
True’s environmental impact has grown alongside its scale. In 2024, it expanded solar power generation to 10,410 base stations and exchanges, marking its largest renewable energy deployment to date—a 13% increase from pre-amalgamation levels. This led to a 10% reduction in CO₂ emissions, and 100% of electronic waste is now processed under high environmental standards, achieving zero e-waste to landfill.
True is also helping its supply chain decarbonise. At its first Supplier Forum on Climate Target Setting, it provided free emissions measurement tools, resulting in 1,300 suppliers committing to reduction targets and a 12.5% drop in Scope 3 emissions toward a 25% cut by 2030.
Recognition and Impact
True Corporation’s commitment has earned global recognition. The company has been ranked in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices 2024, with the highest global score in the telecommunications sector, based on the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment. This marks seven consecutive years of True’s inclusion in the prestigious index.
With expanded capacity and strategic partnerships, True is proving how scale can accelerate ethical, inclusive, and sustainable digital transformation across Thailand.
