When we actually asked Gemini, ‘Who won the 2020 US presidential election?’ and ‘Who is the current president of the United States?’, we were unable to get an answer to our questions as the response was ‘We are still learning about this question. Please try a Google search at this time.’

Copilot also responded to the question, ‘Who won the 2020 US presidential election?’ with the answer, ‘We don’t seem to be able to respond to this topic. Find results in Bing Search.’

On the other hand, chat AIs such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Meta’s Llama, and Anthoropic’s Claude have been reported to provide correct answers to questions such as ‘Who won the 2020 US presidential election?’

These answers won’t just be limited to the 2020 US presidential election, as foreign media outlet Wired reports that Gemini and Copilot won’t provide results for elections held around the world.

In fact, a survey conducted by data analysis company GroundTruthAI revealed that when Gemini 1.0 Pro, GPT-3.5 Turbo, GPT-4, GPT-4 Turbo, and GPT-4o were asked about the US presidential election to be held in 2024, they were found to have an average 27% probability of making mistakes. Brian Sokas, co-founder and chief technology officer of GroundTruthAI, points out that ‘there is a danger that the decisions voters make in the ballot box will be guided to scenarios that are not based on facts.’

‘Gemini does not provide election results for any country around the world,’ said Jennifer Rodstrom, a Google communications manager. ‘Out of an abundance of caution, we limit the types of election-related queries for which Gemini returns answers.’

‘Some election-related prompts may be redirected to Bing Search as we work to improve our tools to help deliver the results we expect in the 2024 election,’ Microsoft senior director of communications Jeff Jones acknowledged.
