Microsoft has upgraded Bing Video Creator with OpenAI’s Sora 2 video generation model, bringing improved AI video capabilities to the free tool, according to Neowin.
The upgrade follows several recent AI announcements, including the release of GPT-5.4 and Microsoft adding the GPT-5.4 coding model to GitHub Copilot. With the latest change, Bing Video Creator now generates more advanced videos directly from text prompts.
Bing Video Creator Now Powered by Sora 2
Bing Video Creator originally launched in June 2025, allowing users to create short videos simply by describing a scene in text. The feature quickly became popular because Microsoft made it available for free to Bing users.
Microsoft has now upgraded the service to OpenAI’s Sora 2 model, which was first revealed in October 2025.
Sora 2 significantly improves the quality of AI-generated videos compared to the earlier model. The system delivers better instruction following, improved scene consistency, and stronger world-state persistence across multiple shots.
With the new model, videos generated in Bing Video Creator now feature more dynamic motion, richer visuals, and improved photorealism.
Audio Support and Higher Visual Quality
The upgrade also expands what AI-generated videos can include. Generated clips can now feature integrated audio elements, including sound effects, voices, and background audio tracks.
These improvements allow the system to produce more cinematic and realistic outputs than earlier versions.
Microsoft also confirmed that every AI-generated video will include visible watermarks that clearly label the content as AI-created.
In addition, generated videos will contain C2PA credentials, an industry standard designed to help verify the origin of digital media and identify AI-generated content.
Free Generations and Microsoft Rewards Integration
Microsoft continues to offer Bing Video Creator for free, but with limits on fast video generation.
Users receive 10 fast video generations at no cost. After that limit is reached, the service switches to a slower generation mode that remains available without restrictions.
Users who want additional fast generations can unlock them using Microsoft Rewards points. The number of points required varies depending on video settings and generation parameters.
Once Microsoft Rewards support is enabled for the feature, the required points are automatically deducted each time a new video is generated.
Microsoft Continues Expanding Copilot AI Features
The Bing Video Creator upgrade is part of Microsoft’s broader push to expand AI tools across its ecosystem.
At the same time, Microsoft is preparing several new Copilot features. Upcoming updates may allow Copilot to open links directly inside the app, reducing the need to switch to a browser.
Microsoft is also developing a built-in screenshot tool for Copilot in Microsoft 365, which would allow users to capture images directly inside the assistant and attach them to prompts for better context.
These additions highlight Microsoft’s ongoing effort to integrate AI more deeply into Bing, Copilot, and the wider Microsoft ecosystem.
