NTT DATA launches smart AI agent ecosystem for enterprise automation

NTT DATA, has announced the launch of its Smart AI Agent Ecosystem, aiming to revolutionise how businesses adopt intelligent automation across industries. Designed to deliver assured outcomes, this enterprise-grade ecosystem brings together industry-specific AI agents, tools, platforms, and services to help companies improve decision-making, boost efficiency, and modernise operations.

At the core of this offering is a major breakthrough, a patented plug-in solution that transforms existing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) bots into intelligent, autonomous agents. This innovation allows organisations burdened with legacy systems to upgrade without starting from scratch. Similar to how a plug-in can turn a standard TV into a smart one, this solution brings new life to outdated bots by enabling them to make decisions and operate independently while complying with security and governance policies.

NTT DATA’s Smart AI Agents are already being deployed across a range of sectors. In healthcare, they classify and summarize insurance appeals and assess medical necessity. In automotive manufacturing, they analyze regulatory citations and will soon handle root-cause defect analysis and initiate recalls. Financial institutions are using these agents for Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance and fraud detection, while in marketing, multi-agent systems are being used to create hyper-personalised ad recommendations through psychographic profiling. The company is also working with clients in supply chain and logistics to prototype and deploy AI agents for procurement and vendor selection.

The ecosystem is backed by a comprehensive set of managed services and tools, including a Smart AI Agent platform that features integrated accelerators, a marketplace for language models, and support for public and private cloud infrastructure. Responsible AI is embedded throughout, with a strong focus on ethics, security, and compliance.

NTT DATA is also expanding its alliance network to support the ecosystem’s growth. As part of a strategic collaboration with OpenAI, it will launch a Centre of Excellence to develop and deploy new generative AI services using OpenAI’s APIs. Additional partnerships include Rafay Systems, which provides scalable AI infrastructure, and Kore.ai, whose LLM-integrated platform enhances NTT DATA’s Digital Workplace Services.

The ecosystem supports all major cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, allowing clients to build, manage, and scale agentic AI solutions across environments. Companies like Hyster-Yale are already seeing value, using the platform to explore new use cases and reimagine their operations with multi-agent models.
