Cloud cybersecurity firm Orca Security Ltd. today announced it acquired Opus Security Inc., a venture capital-funded startup that specializes in artificial intelligence-driven automation and orchestration, for an undisclosed price.
Opus was founded in 2022 by Meny Har and Or Gabay (pictured). They were part of the founding team at security orchestration, automation and response company Siemplify, which Google LLC acquired for $500 million in January 2022. Opus offers cloud-native cybersecurity with a particular focus on autonomous vulnerability management.
The Opus platform is powered by a fleet of intelligent AI security agents that manage the entire lifecycle of vulnerability management, from detection to remediation. The agentic approach allows organizations to address security issues efficiently and at scale without the need for additional security personnel.
The company’s platform integrates with over 100 security tools, aggregating and deduplicating vulnerability data across cloud, application and infrastructure environments. It also employs a multilayered prioritization framework that considers factors such as exploitability, threat intelligence, business impact and technical environment to focus on real risks, not just Common Vulnerability Scoring System scores. The result ensures that security teams can concentrate their efforts on the most critical vulnerabilities.
Opus’s AI agents are designed to act like security experts, analyzing vulnerabilities, assessing risks and determining the best remediation paths. The agents can operate autonomously or in collaboration with human teams to provide real-time guidance and ensure compliance with company policies.
With the acquisition of Opus, Orca is deepening its investment in agentic AI to drive the next generation of cloud risk resolution – empowering organizations to respond in real time, reduce manual overhead and streamline remediation at scale.
Orca also said the acquisition marks a major milestone in its journey as a leading cloud security innovator and the broader cloud-native application protection platform market. Orca plans to integrate Opus’ talent and expertise to become the first CNAPP not only to identify and prioritize cloud security risks but also to remediate and prevent them autonomously, at large scale.
“This is the next big leap for Orca and the cloud security industry,” said Orca co-founder and Chief Executive Gil Geron. “With the acquisition of Opus, we’re moving decisively into the era of intelligent action, where cloud security problems are not just seen, but solved automatically.”
Coming into its acquisition, Opus had raised a single round of $10 million in funding in September 2022. Investors in the company include YL Ventures Ltd., Tiger Global Management and a number of individual investors. Notable among them are George Kurtz, co-founder and CEO of CrowdStrike Holdings Inc., Udi Mokady, co-founder and former CEO of CyberArk Software Ltd., and Dan Plastina, former head of Amazon Web Services Inc. Security Services.
