When it comes to artificial intelligence, the focus is often on its technical capabilities, like processing vast amounts of data, automating tasks, and optimizing workflows. But for entrepreneur and business analyst Hugo Lamy, AI is more than just a tool; it’s a way to unlock human potential.
Hugo has built his career on bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI and real-world business needs, and is now a founding member at Brainbase, an AI-powered solution for businesses to streamline operations, reduce costs, and scale quickly.
Hugo Lamy’s journey has spanned multiple continents, industries, and ventures, and is a testament to the power of innovation and persistence in turning dreams into reality.
Early Business Ventures & Entrepreneurial Spark
Hugo began in the startup world at age 19, when he became an ambassador for emerging fintech startup N26. With no prior experience, he quickly got the hang of affiliate marketing and earned several thousand dollars in commission.
This early success ignited his passion for entrepreneurship and inspired him to enroll at Hult Business School in London for his Master’s in International Business, before pursuing a specialized MSc in Business Analytics in San Francisco.
During his time at Hult, he participated in the prestigious Hult Prize competition with a project called Xtend—an innovative shoe that could grow with a child’s foot, designed to help low-income families. He scored in the top 1% of 40,000 globally competing teams, making it to the quarter-finals in Rio de Janeiro.
Hugo saw that something as simple as shoes could be solved with the right approach and insights, cementing his belief in the power of technology to solve real-world problems.
Scaling Startups & AI Innovations
After a few years as an ambassador at Amazon, Hugo began focusing on AI-driven businesses.
For business marketing platform StyleAI, he played a crucial role in transforming an early stage startup into a company generating $4M in ARR within just one year. He conducted over 1,000 product demos with an impressive conversion rate, demonstrating his keen understanding of AI’s commercial applications.
This experience led him to create Inksider, a platform that leverages generative AI to help users find the perfect tattoo designs. From the outside, it looked like a passion project, but the concept quickly gained traction, attracting over 140,000 followers and securing funding through the NGI Enrichers fellowship at Temple University.
Inksider really helped Hugo deepen his expertise in AI’s role in personalization and user experience and refine his approach to building AI-driven platforms that enhance creative industries. Now, the platform has the potential to help over 100 million tattoo seekers find better designs every year.
Brainbase: The Next Frontier in AI-Powered Business Automation
Hugo eventually arrived at Brainbase, an AI company founded by Gokhan Egri, a former Harvard PhD candidate in Computer Science. Recognizing the potential of Brainbase’s technology, Hugo joined as a founding member and focused on growth and business development.
Within his first two weeks at the firm, Hugo secured meetings with Fortune 500 companies, launched a thought leadership podcast, and expanded the sales pipeline, raising upwards of $3.2 million with participation from prestigious angel investors like the founders of YouTube and Hubspot. However, Hugo’s role was not just about selling AI solutions; he also wanted to make them accessible and applicable to real-world business challenges.
Brainbase operates at the cutting edge of AI by enabling businesses to create custom AI-powered agents faster and cheaper. Unlike many AI companies focusing on vertical-specific solutions like AI SDRs or recruiters, Brainbase targets automation for smaller operational teams, tackling tasks such as invoice parsing, resume screening, customer support, and sales automation.
Hugo used the firm’s unique approach to implement immediate ROI and expand AI implementation organically for their clients.
Hugo’s Philosophy: AI as a Tool for Human Potential
For Hugo, AI is a tool that removes friction from daily tasks, allowing people to focus on creative and strategic work instead. His mission is to democratize AI, ensuring that businesses of all sizes can leverage automation to enhance productivity and efficiency.
“I hope to empower individuals and businesses to thrive, enabling them to write their own success stories while contributing to a more inclusive and equitable future,” he explains.
Hugo’s success comes from adaptability, innovation, and constant learning. From his early days hustling as a fintech ambassador to scaling multimillion-dollar startups and pioneering AI automation, his career illustrates the power of curiosity and perseverance.
“I aspire to be seen as a thought leader in developing technologies that bridge the gap between human capabilities and digital transformation,” Hugo concludes. “Technology should serve as an enabler for growth and fulfillment.”
For entrepreneurs and business leaders, Hugo Lamy’s groundbreaking work with AI at Brainbase and Inksider is a transformational force that, when used effectively, can unlock new levels of efficiency, scalability, and human potential.
