Bangkok to host UNESCO Global Forum on AI ethics in June

Bangkok AI Week 2025 will run alongside the forum, featuring innovation showcases, business events, academic research presentations, and student competitions.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is preparing to welcome global policymakers, experts, and industry leaders to the 3rd UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI, which will take place in Bangkok from June 24 to 27. The forum will feature high-level discussions on responsible AI development, with Thailand set to launch ASEAN’s first AI Governance Practice Center to build capacity for ethical AI management based on UNESCO’s global framework.

Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Economy and Society Minister Prasert Chandraruangthong recently chaired a final review meeting this week, affirming Thailand’s readiness to lead AI policy discussions. The country’s broader AI strategy includes expanding digital infrastructure, supporting AI talent development, and creating a national data platform to digitize government services by 2026. The country will also introduce a monitoring dashboard to assess AI governance and support policy design.

Bangkok AI Week 2025 will run alongside the forum, featuring innovation showcases, business events, academic research presentations, and student competitions. These activities encourage collaboration, attract investment, and promote public awareness of AI’s role in shaping the economy and society. UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay is expected to attend the event.

The government views the forum as a key opportunity to position Thailand as a leader in AI governance, promote responsible digital development, and establish Bangkok as a regional hub for AI ethics and policy in Southeast Asia.
