Meta is using AI to help you generate 3D AI image model

Meta is bringing AI to our smartphones via WhatsApp but it is also building different use cases such as AI generating tool for 3D models.

AI models are gaining prominence and popularity that let you create videos and even edit content in quick time. Meta is also heavily part of the growing AI field and its new AI model claims to generate AI-created 3D models in minutes. The new model from the company is called Meta 3D Gen platform that gives you 3D-like output with focus on details and all this is done using simple text prompts.

This 3D AI model is claimed to, “generate 3D assets with high-resolution textures & material maps end-to-end with results that are superior in quality to previous state-of-the-art solutions — at 3-10x the speed of previous work.”

AI models are quickly evolving and Meta realises the speed of development is vital for its growth and competition with Google with OpenAI among others. 3D models have a novelty factor but the reach in the industry and relevance is far wider than your regular image generation tools, which allows Meta to consider future prospects of monetising these models as they become better and more detailed.

Some of the examples of the 3D models generated by the tool suggests the quality is already there and gradually you might see more finesse with better shadow touch ups and tones, which will happen as the AI model learns and trains on more data.

As you can see in the image below, Meta has highlighted the steps and flow of the AI model and how it begins the process of generating the 3D model after you raise the text prompt.

We have already seen Adobe and Midjourney show what AI models can produce but Meta claims that its 3D model is of high-quality and can be used in real-world modelling and rendering applications.
