Elon Musk-owned X is reportedly working to deeply integrate AI chatbot developed xAI – another company owned by Musk – into the platform. Apart from this, the company may be looking to introduce some features, as per researcher Nima Owji who discovered these potential changes on X’s website.
Grok AI chatbot pop-up just like Copilot window on Copilot+ PCs
One of the first features that the researcher spotted is the separate window for AI chatbot – just like the way we have seen in various Copilot PCs’, offering easy access to information.Similar sidebars to the right of the screen have also been added by Google in its productivity apps.
The screenshot shared by the researcher suggests that similar to checking DMs, users may be able to access Grok through a pop-up on the screen while browsing X.
“X is working on the Grok drawer which will let you use Grok while using other parts of the app!” Owji said.
Grok can do an account research
Grok may be used to research user profiles on X, potentially providing summaries of publicly available information.
For example, users may click a button to learn more about an account on X. The details are not available.
In-app Grok search like Google Gemini
This feature is similar to Google Gemini chatbot. As per the researchers, highlighting text within an X post could trigger an “Ask Grok” button, allowing users to instantly search Grok about the highlighted information.
Gemini chatbot allows users to highlight a word or sentence and provides options to customise the reply as per the their liking.
X added Grok to the app in a bid to boost paid subscriptions on the Premium Plus plan but as the competition from OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and others rose, the company formerly known as Twitter expanded access to Grok to include mid-tier Premium subscribers.
